Set or Clear a Specific Bit in a Register

Code

#include <stdio.h>

unsigned char modifyBit(unsigned char reg, int pos, int mode) {
    // Write your code here
    if(mode == 1)
    {
        reg = reg | (1 << pos);
        return reg;
    }
    else if(mode == 0)
    {
        reg = reg & ~ ( 1 << pos);
        return reg;
    }
}

int main() {
    unsigned char reg;
    int pos, mode;
    scanf("%hhu %d %d", &reg, &pos, &mode);
    printf("%d", modifyBit(reg, pos, mode));
    return 0;
}

Solving Approach

---> for set / clear bit we need to shift the bit position to required bit position .

---> for set do logic or operation with 1 at specified bit position.

---> for clear bit do inverse of set operation '~' that will set bit as 0.
