Set or Clear a Specific Bit in a Register

Code

#include <stdio.h>

unsigned char modifyBit(unsigned char reg, int pos, int mode) {
    // Write your code here
    if(mode==1)
    {
        reg |=(1<<pos);
    }
    else if(mode==0)
    {
        reg &=~(1<<pos);
    }
    else
    printf("Invalid mode selection, set a correct mode");
    return reg;
}

int main() {
    unsigned char reg;
    int pos, mode;
    scanf("%hhu %d %d", &reg, &pos, &mode);
    printf("%d", modifyBit(reg, pos, mode));
    return 0;
}

Solving Approach

first use if else statements for identify which mode is selected by user.

to set the bit use | - OR operator and clear the bit use & with ~  operators , to select the particular bit use (1<<pos).
