When I decided to transition from my role as an RFID Test Engineer to an Embedded Software Engineer, I knew one thing—I had to rebuild my fundamentals from scratch.

What I liked the most is the Component Skills section. Instead of focusing only on theory, it teaches practical knowledge about real electronic components like identifying parts, reading markings, and understanding how they are actually used in circuits.

In many cases, we learn circuit theory at university, but we don’t get enough exposure to these hands-on details. However, in real projects especially in PCB design and embedded systems these skills are extremely important.

The platform is also built around solving questions rather than just watching content, which makes the learning process much more effective.

It also includes topics like Embedded C, microcontrollers, and Verilog, but the Component Skills part is what really stands out for me.

Some updates take a while to reach LinkedIn. This one's from March-April 2026, but better late than never, right?

Back then, I took on the Verilog track on EWSkills and ended up solving 90 problems in just 5 days, which was enough to land the #1 spot on the leaderboard — ahead of a pool of 800+ people who'd been at it longer than I had. The leaderboard shows my student ID instead of my name, so if you're checking look for 202404001, that's me at rank 1 as 202404001.

Never knew Embedded C could be so different.

I always thought, "I've already worked with C. How different could Embedded C really be?"

Turns out, very different.

I've been practicing on ewskills.com for some time now, and the things I've learned through Embedded C are things I probably wouldn't have picked up otherwise.

Embedded C completely changes your perspective. Suddenly, every integer isn't just an int anymore - it's int8_t, int16_t, or int32_t. Every byte of memory matters. Every bit has a purpose.

It's also very different from the typical DSA-style problems. Instead of generic algorithmic questions, you come across prompts like:

"Here's an 8-bit register. Extract these bits, modify those bits, perform bitwise operations, and write the value back."

That's when concepts like bit manipulation, bit masking, bit-field abstraction, and bitwise rotations stop being theory and start becoming practical tools.

Then there are pointers.

This is probably the topic I struggle with the most. They feel strangely "moody" - some days everything makes perfect sense, and other days I find myself wondering why my code works at all.

But working through problems involving pointers, double pointers, and function pointers has taught me concepts I didn't even know I was missing.

So far, I've solved 50+ Embedded C problems. There's still a long way to go, but I'll keep being consistent, finish this section, and continue sharing what I learn along the way:)
