38. Battery Mini-Breaker for Tablet Battery Protection

Aarav is designing a 2S Li-Polymer battery pack (7.4V nominal) for a consumer tablet. 

The pack can discharge up to 8A during peak operation such as gaming and fast charging. 

To protect the pack from overtemperature and overcurrent, he needs a resettable thermal cutoff (battery mini-breaker) mounted on the battery cell assembly. 

The device must trip at 85°C and reset automatically when the temperature drops to a safe level. 

Key requirements: 

• Activation temperature: 85°C 

• Voltage rating: must cover 2S pack (max 8.4V) 

• Current rating: ≥12A (above 8A peak to avoid nuisance tripping) 

• Type: Breaker (resettable)
