5. Automotive Blade Fuse Replacement

1. Component Purpose

When a wiring short circuit occurs, extremely high current flows through the wire. Without a fuse, this current would overheat the wire, melt insulation, and potentially cause a fire inside the vehicle.

The blade fuse in the accessory circuit is a sacrificial element — it melts and breaks the circuit before the wire or connected equipment is damaged. After fixing the short, the fuse is simply replaced.

Required: Automotive Blade · Miniature · 10A · ≥32VDC · Littelfuse · RoHS

2. How to Find It on DigiKey

Go to DigiKey.com → Circuit Protection → Fuses

Apply these filters:
 •  Fuse Type → Automotive
 •  Current Rating (Amps) → 10A
 •  Voltage Rating - DC → 32V or higher
 •  Package / Case → Blade, Miniature
 •  Manufacturer → Littelfuse Inc.
 •  Part Status → Active

Important: The company AVL requires Littelfuse. Always filter by manufacturer first to avoid selecting a non-approved part.

Tip: DigiKey lists blade fuses in several sizes: Miniature, Standard, Low Profile, and Micro. Make sure you select "Blade, Miniature" — other sizes will not fit the same fuse holder slot.

3. Key Specifications & What They Mean
