Keyboard Matrix Encoder

Question

Problem: Keyboard Matrix Encoder. Solve this hands-on electronics task on EWskills.

Accepted Answer

Output Select Analysis: The valid signal (V) turns on (1) if any key is pressed. The code outputs (Y1, Y0) generate the binary address of the highest active input. For example, Y0 checks if the highest bit I3 is pressed, or if I1 is pressed while I2 is ignored.
Hardware Optimization: The circuit uses a NOT gate to invert I2, allowing it to block lower-priority inputs. These lines combine through basic AND and OR gates to calculate the correct binary position and valid signal simultaneously without overlapping paths.
